Community Speedwatch

Speedwatch logo

Community Speedwatch (CSW) is a road safety initiative that’s coordinated by Kent Police and run by local communities. Trained volunteers monitor the speeds of vehicles using approved ‘speed indication devices’ (SIDs).

The aim of the initiative is to:

  1. Reduce death and injury on the roads
  2. Improve the quality of life for local communities
  3. Reduce the speed of vehicles to the speed limit
  4. Increase public awareness of inappropriate speed

The Hollingbourne Community Speedwatch team are looking for additional volunteers who would like to help with our speed check campaign. Come along for a trial and meet the team, full training and support are given plus insurance cover provided.

There is no minimum time commitment, volunteers must be over 18 and are asked to give at least 3 hours a month to make the scheme work.  Speedwatch sessions are planned around volunteer availability.

Anyone interested in volunteering or just happy to help promote positive traffic safety changes in our village please contact Chris Childs on 07887 611655 or Andy Cooper on 07730 200867.
